  • Premio RBA de Novela Negra|

    Personal wins award

    Personal

Lee Child has won the Premio RBA de Novela Negra Award for "Personal". The awards committee reviewed 244 manuscripts, mostly from Spain and Latin America, but also from the United States, Britain, Canada, Taiwan, New Zealand and France. Previous winners include Francisco González Ledesma, Andrea Camilleri, Philip Kerr, Harlan Coben, Patricia Cornwell, Arnaldur Indridason and Michael Connelly.

Presentation of the award took place at the headquarters of RBA in Barcelona. Lee was unable to attend, because of promotion commitments in the US, but a spokesperson expressed his gratitude in these words: "Thank you very much for this award. I am honored and delighted to accept it. And that’s all I can say in Spanish, so now I must continue in English. I am especially happy to be recognized here, because Spain has a special place in the Reacher story. I was on vacation here for a week, and when I got home to the UK I found I had lost my job. So I unpacked my suitcase and sat down to write my first Reacher book. So it’s true to say the initial energy in that book came from Spanish food, wine, and sunshine."

  • CWA Diamond Dagger|

    Lifetime Achievement Award

The Crime Writers’ Association awarded Lee with the 2013 Diamond Dagger on July 15, 2013.
